The Nanaimo Beekeepers Club is based in central Vancouver Island, in the city of Nanaimo and serves the mid-Vancouver Island area. Our club has been long established and currently enjoys an active membership of educators, commercial businesses and hobbyists. Our goal is to share information and learnings to ensure the continued success and good health of honey bees on Vancouver Island.

The Nanaimo Beekeepers Club is one of many clubs in the BC Honey Producers Association, and is also associated with the Canadian Honey Council.

Beekeeping is regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture, who primarily provide inspection services, but also have many resources available to bee club members - especially good advice and tips. They also administer a quarantine that prevents people from bringing bees onto Vancouver Island from the mainland. The Federal Government also has some regulatory requirements (eg., labelling of jars when selling honey).

The Nanaimo Beekeepers Club meets every month (excluding July, August and December) on the fourth Wednesday. Meetings include education sessions and exchange of bee information from local beekeepers. Please join us!
